An international conference on Albanian Studies in Tirana
The conference Practices, Materiality, Places and Temporality took place in Tirana in the premises of the National Historical Museum, from 10 to 12 October 2018. Around 40 scholars of various disciplines were invited to discuss issues related to the study of practices, materiality, places and temporality, which have been and are still debated in contemporary social sciences, and deserve to be discussed in relation to the Albanian context. The objective was to reflect collectively on current and emerging approaches in Albanian studies in order to identify future directions of research and to envisage potential collaborative projects.
This conference is the result of long-term collaboration between the Department of History of the University of Tirana, the Institute of Cultural Anthropology and Art Studies (IAKSA, Tirana), the Institute of Mediterranean, European and Comparative Ethnology (IDEMEC, Aix-en-Provence) and the Centre for Turkish, Ottoman, Balkans and Central-Asia Studies (CETOBAC, Paris).
The Organising Committee wishes to thank all participants for their contribution and for the friendly and inspiring atmosphere of these three days.
